Under my mentor I performed various network and hardware troubleshooting activities including testing for dead Mac desktops, hard drives and replacing broken laptop screens.
Furthermore, I observed our mentor diagnose and solve a client’s network congestion problem remotely.
From this experience I learnt that 2 laptops/desktops with the same problem may each require unique solutions to solve their problems. Secondly, when working with a client you have to explain to them what the problem is, how you are gong to resolve it and the costs involved in resolving that problem. Before implementing the solution the client has to agree to the costs involved.
Lastly, I learnt that being well organized goes a long way in being productive. Having a well organized work desk helps in helping clients remotely as you don’t spend a long amount of time searching for information while the client is on hold.
