This week has been eventful and just absolutely amazing. I had a really good time with my fellow Summer Schoolers as we all were just learning about immedia and what it was like to be in an I.T company for the first time.
When I got to immedia on Monday morning, I was really nervous because I didn’t know what to expect, but the day commenced and everything went really smoothly. We had a meeting with Nomfundo in the commons and we spoke about what each of us would be doing for the rest of the week. I was really lucky to get the opportunity to develop an iOS app for the very first time. My mentor, Deniel was really kind and he gave me a helpful tutorial to guide me with creating my very first iOS app. I’ve never used an iOS device before and starting off was a little tricky but Deniel showed me how everything works it and it started to get easier the more I worked with it.
The programming language I used was Swift and the IDE I worked on was xcode. My task was to create a simple meal-tracking app called FoodTracker. It allowed me to show a list of meals, including a meal name, rating, and photo. A user can add, remove, or edit a meal. To add a new meal or edit an existing one, users navigate to a different screen where they can specify a name, rating, and photo for a particular meal.
Below are gifs that we took for our final day at Summer School. I’m so sad to leave. It was an awesome week with amazing people!
