I’ve come to the immedia summer school with a slightly different perspective. I’m an IT teacher at a school in La Lucia, Durban. I’m not here because I am thinking of starting a career in IT, but rather because I would like to inspire my students to do so.
I’ve spent a day here and so far, its been a great experience! It’s refreshing to be around so many professionals who are passionate about coding, creating and innovating. Everyone has been helpful and encouraging so far, and the challenges which I have been set are prepared well.
While my focus is understanding the environment so I can best prepare my students for their time here, I am also hoping to create something during my week. My goal currently is to make a working chrome extension for a customized to-do list. I’ve just about got the basics in place so far. Hopefully it will be up and running in the next couple of days!
